HI
I am sure that this question has been asked before but i don't know how to access any previous info.
I have been told that the GT1 2 and 3 have the same engine. Is this true?

they are all the same basic engine yes. There is a few differences between a GT1 & GT3 as the engine had to be de-tuned over time to meet new emission regs that came into force over the cars production period.

GT2's have either a GT1 engine or a GT3 engine, no specific engine for that model.

Easy way to tell them apart is the ICV is different.

Hi
Thanks for that. Maybe you can take time to help me with some problems i have?
Firstly can you mix and match the engine parts
Secondly, the skimmed,re-cammed,ported head had low compression on No3 of 4 bar.
When i took the head off and found a crack from valve seat out and a dark ring around the roof of the combustion chamber which all efforts could not remove.
I have stripped and rebuilt another head and re-shimmed using a spare good looking camshaft.
The question i have is based on this; I am not sure why i did this but i used a spare cam that i was given with the spare head, which i would think is OK but when i looked at the original camshaft IS somewhat different. I think that it is , as the guy said RACE.
If so, will putting a noticeably different camshaft in alter any set up he had? I.e ECU seb2 etc.
I have put a post asking for help identifying this cam which is all but new. There is a pic of the numbers on it. The numbers are P285T EDT3 705 any ides?
Andy

well it will certainly runn differently with a different cam whether it will run badly or not i don't know.
I would say though that the PGT ecu is mappable and getting any car properly mapped to run on its exact spec is always gonna be better than using one of these SEB chips. I'm not mocking or rubbishing the SEB chips here, many many people have used them to with no ill effects.
I'd say if you have a oem cam and a race-y cam you need to decide which one you want to fit, do you just want a drivable car at the end or are you going for power?
