Had a few bad experiences, not only with their website being wrong, but with the knowledge and helpfulness of the guy serving in Crewe

Bought a starter for a picanto, wrong one looks right but the wrong number of teeth on the bendix, wrong part listed on their website

Went in for 1L 10W40 and 1L of OAT antifreeze

The quoted over £18 antifreeze was £5 for concentrated so bought that

Went to away and looked online and 1L oil was on offer at a fiver so did click and collect

Then a fiasco of two days ordering a rear wiper for a Suzuki Alto, and still not getting one
Went in and they wanted £14, went online the same part is £6.70, the public website and there internal website give two different part numbers, they wouldn't let me have the wiper for £6.70 unless I orded click and collect and wait half an hour,.even though they have it in their hand, anyhow get it home and it doesn't fit anyway, took the old off to compared it to the other one listed and that doesn't fit either, returning the new one didn't go smoothly, even though I been to the counter twice the day before, they wouldn't do a refund from a card transaction or the click and collect email, so had to empty all are bags to find the original reciept

Also fitted a clutch, the release bearing is going slightly noisy in less than a year

Aye, i don't see any point in loyalty to any motor factor, customer service is just down to the person who serves you, good, bad, who knows, one day fine, the next bad. Completely changeable.

Probably the worst experience i had at GSF was with a click and collect order. The central warehouse didn't send them the part i ordered, instead the local branch were supposed to phone around other local branches to have my part sent to them. They couldn't be bothered and just made excuses, so i got my money back. I really needed the parts though so the stress of finding parts at short notice fell onto me. There was no malice, just a really stupid corporate idea to have one branch phone another like that and chase parts.

Another time i bought two tie rod ends at GSF as a walk in customer, i said "left and right" and the guy just decided to be funny with me and brought two lefts, why bother being arsey like that? No proof it was deliberate other than the arsey look on his face after i said "left and right". Maybe he needed the exercise.

I do still buy from them though, but i would never rely on them or put them first. I prefer ebay.

Me too, I don't use them unless DEPERATE. I expect it depends on who the manager is.

The lesson here is never just go in and buy over the counter.
It's not the branches fault they can't match online prices. So don't take it out on the branch.
Lots of "shops" have problems listing correct parts via reg number alone.
You can find what is listed for your vehicle online , phone branch for them to check fit via reg +vin, then order online for click and collect or delivery.
Gsf ebay shop has some fantastic bargains.
