Hi all,

Finally installed my system at the weekend (by me I mean Danny installed and I watched) but we have a problem.

The sub is working beautifully but when I turn the system up, the component woofers struggle and crackle on the bass. They are amped and were working fine before when just running of the HU.

JVC HU
JBL 5.25 Comps
SPLX (Cough) 300W amp running the comps.

Any ideas where to start trouble shooting?

Bill

Turn the bass down going to the comps.

Its quite possible that they cant handle the bass amplified.

You need to high-pass the components, they don't like bass as much as the sub does.

There should be a high-pass filter on the amp, simply turn it on and you should be fine ;)

The sub and the comp are running off two different amps, sorry should haver said that.

Danny said the amp running the comps doesn't have a high pass filter.

Can you buy high pass filters like you can for the bass filters?

Apologies for my lack of knowledge

Many thanks for the response but my knowledge is not as vast as yours!!

Um... What is that?

Is it the filter?

PMSL, you bloody wish. mine will always be far superior to yours. as you know just keep reading your max power guide and you may get it to sound a bit above crap!lol

model number / name. might have a hi pass filter built in

You can get little things called bassblockers, they look like slightly large RCA adapters. Helfrauds used to sell them.

Put them in line with the RCAs to the SPLx amp.
