Greetings everyone!
I have been a "lurker" on here for some time now and decided it was time to register myself officially
I bought a 1.6 Stilo Dynamic 3dr when they first came out in 2001 (I think!). Anyway it was one of the first series that came out.
Had the car for about a year, then got fed up of having to take the car back to the dealer nearly every month to fix various electrical problems that we all know about.
Sold the Stilo back to the dealer and as you can imagine, lost a fortune on the price I paid. I liked the look of the facelifted Punto so decided to trade the Stilo in for a 1.2 Active Sport Punto. Was delighted with it at first until the day when I decided to take some friends out and as we were driving along noticed a scraping noise coming from the back end. Stopped and had a look and the back wheels were sanding down my wheel arches. Anyway to cut a very very long story short. Took it to dealer pointed out the tyre marks on the wheel arches and rear bumper. Dealer not interested so decided to write to Fiat. After 5 letters, 3 calls to Fiat and one call to Trading Standards got a guy from Fiat out to come and take a look at it. He and a team of mechanics looked at the rear suspension for about 3 hours. Gets a phone call later that day from the Fiat Inspector and he says "I am afraid I am not allowing this car to leave this garage. It has a faulty rear suspension and should not be driven. I have arranged to have your money fully refunded and you should receive a cheque within a couple of weeks.
Anyway, gets a cheque for the full retail price of the car (£8995) and kissed good bye to the Punto.
Anyway, you may ask why I have registered on here? Well, I have had a host of cars since the Stilo and Punto and have been left very unhappy. I've had an Astra, Focus, Honda CRV and a Peugeot Partner combi 2.0 HDI and they all have done nothing for me. So, last week I was browsing some forecourts and went to a Fiat dealership and spotted a nice Stilo JTD 5dr which I fell in love with. Again, to cut long story short, bought the car as the dealer offered me a very good price for my Peugeot and I pick the Stilo up on Wednesday. When I get the car my first plan is to upgrade the alloys to some 17" Abarth ones or the claws. Then, I will be making some enquiries with Angel Tuning to get the hp boosted up
Anyway, sorry to have bored you all to death. Just basically saying hello and hope to speak to you all very soon.
Cheers,
Andrew
