Hi Guys,

I have a set of Renault Megan 175/60R14 alloys that seem to fit my 2007 Fiat Panda. The existing tyres are 155/80R13 (a little boring).

I am fearful of doing the change (wheels dropping off) - any advice.

Hi,
It's not just the stud/bolt spacing you have to worry about. Ther is also the center bore and offset. Most alloy wheels have a center locating bore and matching seat on hub. This is essential to wheel location and safety. If the wheel bore is larger than the hub, the wheel will fit but it's not correct.
If offset is wrong th wheel may rub at full lock or stick out from the wheel arch. wrong offset can also cause excessive wheel bearing wear.
Also note that the bolt or nut may be different, especially in respect of the seat design. This could be a small change that stops the nuts locking properly.
There are lots of online databases e.g. http://www.wheelfitment.eu/ If you don't understand what the measurements mean, don't fit the wheels unless everthing matches exactly or a professonal says it's OK. I won't look or say it's OK because if I get it wrong and there is a crash you, your family or insurance company might come after me for negligence
