I have Fiat 500 sport 2012 car and I want to install a gps vehicle tracking system in my car. I have been planning to call Eaglei gps for the same. That's when I read in blog that you can build and fit a gps security tracker for less than $80 all yourself . How is it even possible? Any idea?

I'm a electronics engineer and probably have all the bits (GPS, module cellphone modem) lying around and I would not bother doing it myself. Yes it's fairly easy to lash-up a GPS module and cellphone (or Wi-Fi module but then you need Wi-Fi coverage) on the bench but building it into a system that works reliably in the harsh environment of a car is another matter. It's only worth it for the technical challenge. if you want to save money you would be better off spending the time working at a burger joint or stacking shelves at minimum wage
