Hi,

I finally got my 1970 500L yesterday. I'm going to wash/wax her today and clean up the inside with leather cleaner and armor all.

But, can I use inject/carb cleaner additives on this car? What about Engine addivitive cleaner that you can use before you do an oil change? What about water remover from fuel lines? I just don't know if these old cars can handle today's chemicals.

What weight do you use?

I'll get updated pics after I wash and wax.

Thanks

Congratulations on your purchase, we'll look forward to the pictures !

In regard to additives - is it not running well ? About the only modern additives ive used is a lead replacement for the fuel and a little lucas oil stabiliser, the 'engine cleaner' used at oil changes isnt allways a great idea as it can break down 'usefull' build-ups which when a cleaner is used an engine can sometimes spring numerous oil leaks ! A good job to do is cleaning out the cenrifugal oil filter (you just need a replacement 'o' ring) and you cant beat a good service if you feel the need to get your spanners out !(y) But to be honest - if it 'aint broke dont fix it:D

I only had time to wash before we went out for dinner.
