after a 600 mile round trip yesterday to Cornwall i picked up my new baby, man it feels good.
Noticed a few issues and wonder if you have any ideas

1) crucnches lightly every time i engage 3rd, crunch is wosre from 2nd than 4th. seems like a synchromesh issue but could it point to the dreaded master cylinder?

2) seems to lack top end grunt, topped out at 120 and wouldn't pull beyond (maybe I am a bit used to having closed induction, superspint and chip), just doesn't have the kick it should. it has been sitting idle for 10 months so maybe it just needs the cobwebs dusting off. did an ECU reset overnight last night, same story after a run in this morning.

3) Airbag light, seem to recall this is common, any quick fix (other than taking the bulb out ;p )

looking forwards to Brooklands, excuse the kerbed alloys but no time/funds to sort it now.

somethings defonatley wrong a hgt should be able to get down near the end of the clock 120 is well off thats a 4th gear speed maybe something is up with the gearbox, 3rd gear is always a bit crunchy when cold but i would get it looked at asap

Change the filter, perhaps where it has been idle for so long it might be clogged, also do a service things should get better with that.

My 20v weekend has been upto 135 on the clock before and still wanted to go but i bottled it (private road)

my is tight in third when cold too.

Don't worry Jay. I'm sure we can all give her the once over at the weekend.

my last HGT maxxed the clock no worries, does the M25 count as a private road at 4AM? ;)

agree on the filter, the car doesn't feel faulty just like it can't catch enough breath, maybe i got an asthmatic one :)

I have a sealed induction filter in the garage if your interested,it will be in the boot on saturday so you can have a look if you are.

@ Robin, excellent, yes plz.

and Yup thats the MAF, screwed one of those over when i got a bit 'enthusiatic' re-oiling a piper cross :)

when its unlpuged it idles at about 1500rpm
when its pluged in it idles at about 700rpm

Do remember that 135mph on the clock probably doesn't mean you where actually going at 135mph. That is unless you where pulling 6,750rpm in 5th at the time

Jay, firstly good to see y9u back in the fold mate :)

secondly, just sounds like the old girl needs a good service to me, fluids, plugs (coil Packs, may be able to sort a set of those for you if its a mk1, not too sure if they are interchangeable between the 2..? have a mk1 rather broken at work..) and air filter

i had my hgt up to 145 on the clocks on my private (m2) road and as youve been there before you know the score when they arent quite right. let the cobwebs fall out a bit then look at the service items :)
