Thanks for your advice and encouragement over recent weeks, the Tipo now lives on with a scrapyard head, its driven me 28 miles to Leeds and back 3 days no trouble. Its actually quieter than before as I think my last cam was worn. Every day is a exciting as another gauge/bulb/motor randomly comes back to life
All i need now is a service, new shocks, better tyres, oil pump, seat repairs, respray, bottom arm, front bumper

A couple of questions:
Is it ever worth renewing gearbox oil - I doubt this has ever been done?
Why do old instrument panels get so dim? Occasionally it has a fit of slightly greater brightness. All the bulbs work and I cleaned the glass a while ago.
Could a worn power sterring pump make the steering stiff given there is fluid and the pump goes round?
Oh and how do I install 'theatre dimming' interior lights in the Tipo to improve it's modernity?
 ? Jus kidding.
Cheers
