Hi, I am due my 1st service soon and I would like to know the best Fiat dealers around my area (Buckinghamshire)?

I remember seeing a list around here once but can't I find it anymore, also it is true that if you get a non-dealer service does your warranty go?

Warranty is kept intact if the independent service agent is VAT registered and uses OE or equivalent parts.

P.S. get a 2nd service quote from whoever u choose... my dealer wanted £385 plus any extras for my 2nd service on my GP at 30,000 miles, so I am going independent, £99. They can re-set the service system, stamp my service book and will use an oil of my choice if I pay them an extra £15.

Ah ok thanks, I know the fiat dealers in my area, just dont know which ones are good and which ones arent.

i know as you said going independant is fine aslong as there VAT reg. etc. but what about software updates? for blue & me etc. can you go 2 a fiat dealer to get them done separately, and would it be worth it?

dealer locator: http://www.fiat.co.uk/dealer/locator.aspx

My dealer has always denied there being any software updates for my car, and TBF I have no concerns that I need any.... maybe I am ignorant of the need. Anyhow I dont want the dealer messing around with my ECU after I have my re-map, unless that is, I ask them to for some reason, and by then my warranty will be up (except for the dealer portion) but that covers VERY little. I am pretty sure a FIAT stealer will do anything u ask them to within reason, but charge you for the privilege.

yer i agree. i havent acctually heard of any updates was just wondering! i dont think id pay for the privalige of havin them mess about either. from what ive gathered the 3rd year warranty sounds like a bit of a con.

No worries its cool. I just wanna know which dealers to avoid I dont want some bozo working on my car. (y)

Well, I live near High Wycombe, and I brought the car from Thames Fiat in Slough. Only used them for one service and one warranty issue. They seemed good on both, though organizing the warranty issue was a bit strange, service said bring it in, gave them the keys and within half an hour it was fixed, but I had to go and prompt them after I saw that the car was fixed, as no one had told me. They seam like an average quality dealer. I heard from someone that all the perry's linked ones (in Aylesbury and Amersham I think) are ones to avoid.

I've got the 3rd year warranty with them, so I think any warranty issues HAVE to be sorted out with them when my car gets past 2 years old.

pre warning mate it aint that simple, they must carryout the correct service at the correct time using the correct schedule and at 30k u cant do a small service because over 10k/year, read small print! the book price for 36k is £525 i think but any dealer could do it for 300 if they wanted really, i would at mine thats for sure unless its diesel with aircon!
equilevent parts not true either must be genuine fiat as they are purposley designed for car! my dealer in essex will organise almost anything at more reasonable prices! pm me if u get a price from a dealer and we'll see what we can do,

3rd year warrenty is nowhere near as good as normal one but then uk only ones to get it, but if ya g/box engine went ud love the 3rd year they usually replace rather than repair!

the 3rd year dealer warranty is known as fiat auto contracts and can be used at any fiat dealer via one link system

we have new fiat dealer in bishop stortford, and at albans and have had the relevent training so expect them to be good enough as the nissan side is top 10% in country at albans.

I dont want a bozo as a goverment but sometimes we dont have a choice but you do! Speak to the tech who worked on your car afterwards etc to satisfy yourself the work has been carried out correctly.

should read service news bulletins daily then ;)
