Well folks, I know I've not posted now for some time, but I have been coming back to the forum on and off.

Anyway.. good news and bad news... My partner and I decided recently that we were to get a Hungarian Vizsla dog (think of a ginger dalmation), and as a consequence to that decision I have just purchased myself a Ford B Max. Not a car that I can be passionate about, particularly as I still adore my 500. I have to sell my 500 privately, the stealers have been giving me insulting trade in prices.. bless them!

Anyway thank you for letting me be part of this team.

Take the armrest out that you got from me and sell that, you should get a few £ for it.

should have gone for one of these...

Andy ... Blurgh!! is what I'm thinking of the 500l.. how very dare they!

Rui: The arm rest served me well, (mainly as useful storage), I have so many extra's I am hoping that they will all just make my 500 more desirable than the competition.

Melanabb.. Thanks, for the support on the breed choice. They really are a fabulous breed.. I have to wait for summer to get a pup, but I am getting things ready. I am so excited.
Thanks,
Claire

Hi Claire, sorry to see you leave and thanks for being part of the original 500 team from back in the day. Of course this leaves us with a bit of a problem, to whom do we now address "chicken" specific posts as Mick has also dropped off the radar, lol.

Hope you enjoy the new car, I know you will enjoy the new dog.

Well folks, I didn't get very far! . I did not get on with the Ford B Max, I have got too used to driving the dinky 500 that this felt giant and the 17" wheels seemed clumsy to me. My partner agreed to take the B Max, and we are in the process of turning my 500 into a van!

The 500 is now (officially with the DVLA) a two seater, and insurance company have been informed, and we have just commissioned someone to weld a bulk head ready for dog and cage to be installed.

We will need to install some quality thick sound deadening, and I am trying to source a close (ish) match of the carpet to put down.

It's quite an exciting project, but I know many will think I am barking, but as I have no need for rear passengers this is going to be the best solution for me.

It's a whole new category of car- the Fiat 500 K9...:)

Good luck!

We took the other route and got a miniature schnauzer. Completely non shedding and fits on the backseat, on her blanket and seatbelted in.

My old Uno made a great dog van when I had border collies. The rear seats folded double to make a completely flat floor with a half bulkhead behind the seats.

Regulations here in Oz mean that dogs must have a restraining belt and can only be in the back seat with a doggy seat belt. Prevents them turning into a missile in the event of a collision.

When she's in the Panda she's belted in with a harness and buckle, but the 500 has leather in it and truth be told she's happier in the passenger footwell. Does my head in when you see people with big dogs loose in the back or dogs on their laps....

Saw a driver with a terrier on her lap, new kind of air bag perhaps ?
