I'm considering my options for various springs and i've noticed that gmax has two springs with different part numbers:
- 30 FI 13 which lowers a standard sei by 40mm
- 30 FI 14 which lowers a sei sporting by 20mm

I thought that sportings are 20mm lower than standard anyway, so why two different part numbers? Any ideas? If i decide to buy gmax, i should go with the standard sei ones (as mine isn't a sporting), but i think it's the same spring probably, right?

I'll have to check, but i'm not sure KYB has different shocks for the standard and the sporting (!?)
Is there a difference between those springs though? Common sense says "no", but i don't know what to think anymore.

oh, i don't think you understood me. -40mm sporting = -60mm standard sei and i think that's too much of a drop. -40mm standard or -20mm sporting would be what i need

(well, okay, i wouldn't go below -45mm :D)

well, there's a number of reasons... i don't like cars that are lowered over the top, the roads can be quite bumpy here, climbing curbs could become a problem and so on. 40mm is a nice drop for handling, right? And i've heard people say "don't go over 40mm or you'll need shortened shocks", "more than 40mm and the car loses its practicality" and stuff.

That is very confusing. I think the retailer has messed up as they should give the same drop.

To confirm, sporting springs are completely compatible with non sporting centos and vice versa?

I recently bought PI -35mm springs. Mixed reviews like all cheap springs, but the Gmax springs are almost universally described as hard/crashy.

Anything beyond a 20mm drop really requires new dampers on a cento but you can get away without changing the dampers for a 40mm drop. The reason that you don't want to go further than a 40mm drop on stock dampers is because beyond that you risk bottoming out in the damper, this is a bad thing, it also puts much more stress on the damper.

For £20 more than the gmax springs you can get the Weitech which are superior in terms of ride quality & wheel/body control with the right damping rates, which is another reason to junk the stock dampers.

Yes, the reason i asked is that majority of the cento owners run 40mm drop on their sporting and that is the same as 60mm drop on a standard.

And with the 40 mm drop on a sporting, speedbumps is not a problem at all!

The end result of dropping a standard 60mm is the same as dropping a sporting 40mm. Just that the S started life 20mm higher...
