hi,

i had the glow plugs changed in my ulysse 2.0 jtd eleganza last march.

i had problems starting when the temp gauge gave the ice alert reading, under 3 degrees.

had recovery out and said glow plugs needed changing.

all was ok until yesterday when i went to start the car, temp was -3 on the dash yesterday am.

starting at 1 degrees was more difficult than it has been at 3/4 degrees, but still kicked in.

so was wondering if anyone else knew what else could be the problem associated with cold starting, other than the glow plugs.

the engine has never run brilliantly, has always been a bit lumpy.

many thanks

I had something similar, new glow plugs and battery last year, car started 1st time until one day about 2 weeks ago, at 6.30 in the morning turned slowly, hazard lights came on and would not start. I had been leaving for work at 6.30, in the dark, driving 3 mile, and coming home at 5.30, in the dark. I trickled charged battery for 6 hours, and have had no more trouble. I think the battery wasn`t getting charged enough on the short runs, these cars are very delicate with the electronics, if your battery is anyway low, it won`t start.

don't just assume replacing the plug will fix it, are they all actually heating up? Don't know your engine but on an old Pug I had you could remove the plugs, reconnect the wiring and watch them glow, that's how i found a wiring fault. Of course lumpy engine could be compression or valve issues?
