Hi, My Eldiss Motorhome on a Ducato Chassis 2022 140 Multijet Euro 6 Engine displays a flashing glow plug light.
A diagnostic scan (Multiecuscan) shows DTC P0683-13 Preheating control unit (feedback) Open circuit.
All I can find at the moment is 3 heater plugs cold resistance of 1 ohm and 1 heater plug at 0.6 ohms.
All those resistances seem within spec but I don't understand why one should be so different.
The van has only done 3000 miles. no problem starting and plenty of power.
I don't think heater plugs come under the warranty.
Need some advice please.

Hi, I have just noticed today after doing some more diagnostics, laptop plugged in and ignition on I reset the P0683-13 DTC and it immediately comes back, at this point the heater plug relay would not of energised as the ignition was always on so no supply to heater plugs. so its starting to look like a communication fault ?

Hi,
Just wondering did you get your fault resolved. I also have a 2022 Ducato with the same fault code and am thinking glowplugs but not sure.

Thanks

Hi, Yes all sorted, it was a job I was willing to tackle myself, but I discovered that I had 3years warranty not 2 as I had been informed. The garage did the job under warranty and from the tests I did when I got the van back they had changed all 4 plugs and the Relay. The relay was fine as I had already tested it before the repair, so definitely a heater plug. Do you live in the Durham area?

No Im in Northern Ireland. I also thought 2 years warranty and was then told 3. Contacted nearest dealer today but was told that the warranty would not cover glowplugs! Was also thinking of tackling it myself but the throttle body/egr look different from older models.

I don't think its an easy job, garage did it in well under a day and I can't see any evidence of what they had to remove too get at them.
Front panel, EGR valve, possibly inlet manifold not sure about radiators but don't think so.

Thanks for that. Yes I was thinking inlet manifold as well, as is slightly different from older models. I've contacted Fiat UK, so fingers crossed.

Hello just wondering if you got your glow plugs sorted if so how. I am also in Northern Ireland (Carrickfergus)

HI, Yes all sorted. when I got the van back, all 4 plugs are working and they all have the same resistance and current draw which is different from before.
I assume therefore all 4 plugs have been changed. Relay changed as well. They must have a sneaky way of doing them as I can't see any evidence of how they got to them. All done under the 3 year warranty.

Thanks AA have taken it to Fiat as they thinks it’s the gearbox😭😭
DTC P0683-11 Preheating control unit has nothing to do with gearbox, did you have the Glow Plug light flashing on the instrument panel,
What symptoms did you have making the AA think it was a Gearbox issue.

Sorry I had other issues but I think glowplugs error were from faulty wire connections when taking out the Ghost Immobiliser I never had the code before and couldn’t clear it. Ghost immobilisers I think was installed correctly and they used the Traction Control button as a key which started off giving me problems -long story hence it’s removal.

The auto box just gave up suddenly and I couldn’t select gears when starting up. Hence sad journey to Fiat. there was some fresh oil around the gearbox when you looked under the van he found whilst checking the earth cable -plus it’s very rusty too? as don’t have a middle section tray fitted either.

That's scary for a 2022 Ducato, is it the 9 speed auto, shouldn't be getting any problems like that on a 3 year old vehicle, any major problems on mine it will go bye bye, worse than owning a yacht.

Yep it was one of the last 2020 Fiat Ducato 2.3 comfortmatic without Adblue. Defo a Friday van as I have had so many problems even seized habitation door hinge- thought by buying new I wouldn’t have this . Yep looking at nearly 7k crazy money but try find someone who knows this box. Driving my friends ford focus 07 estate car 1.6 petrol automatic- drives like a dream😭😭
