After 16 months of multipla ownership the time has come to move it on.
In terms of practicality it is a great motor, shame it wasn't better built.

This has been a great place to come and look for advice and help and i thank you all.

Just to get shut now and find something else. Looking at either a renault grand scenic or a c4 grand picasso.

I will miss the car but It seems like there is always something to worry about with it.

I'd make a similar comment about Scenics, especially the diesels. Take a while to trawl the Renault forum before you take the plunge. I wish I had.....

At least the Multi is cheap to fix, even if you are permanently fixing it!

I've looked through both forums, her indoors wants the renault I want the c4. The 1.6 hdi, same engine ford uses. They have to be better than this fiat. I have never had a motor where I have constantly been worrying about the next thing that is going wrong.
Another option is the s-max but for the budget I have I can't get one with as low miles as the ****roen.

I had a C4 2.0 HDI as my last company car while my wife had our first Multi, the Multi was and still is more fun to drive.
I had the auto clutch which was smooth enough, enough bells and whistles to keep everyone happy but the car feels a bit sluggish compared to the Multi, suspension and handling makes the C4 a passengers rather than a drivers car.
However nothing went wrong and it's the only car I've had so far where I've got a genuine 60mpg.
S-Max interior was a little flimsy (I test drove one before deciding on the C4), more dynamic but I preferred the C4's better use of space, my kids could destroy an armoured car on a bad day so interiors have to be robust!

Thanks momoe. It does seem to have great mpg figures and it's the semi auto I would like so good to know they work o.k.
Years ago i went for power and handling, now I go for economy and comfort.
They do have a lot of toys, just need to go and look at a few once the multi has sold, (If it sells as it is on ebay and it seems to be full of nutters and dreamers)

The Bay can be a pain in the a$$ sometimes but I bought both my Multi's from it so don't give up hope.
C4 is a good car, hope you find one that suits.

Went from the Multi to a c4 Picasso 5-seat 1.6 hdi with the egs auto clutch thing.

I really miss lots about the Multi which was a really good 'un in every respect, but the 1.6 Citroen diesel is far more responsive than the 1.9 Multi and gives a wee bit better fuel consumption. It's considerably more powerful in real life usage.

The egs works very well, and the car tows our caravan better than the Multi did - much to my surprise! On motorways with the caravan I can set the cruise control at 65 mph and the outfit just keeps at that speed up and down inclines without any trouble at all - and without much driver input.

The Citroen's much smoother and more comfy, but could send you to sleep. Doesn't give the same buzz as the Multi. But I can reassure you - the egs auto system is brilliant!

Looked at a c4 gp yesterday, didn't get to the test drive stage as the space behind the two rear seats just isn't enough. Going to look at a honda frv i-cdti today. Having looked on the net these get good praise.

Well the multi has gone. Been out today and bought a grand scenic. I will miss the six seats, however the scenic does drive nice ironing out the bumps nicely.
I will still be on regularly to read about subframe bushes and arb bushes.
