Of course i am a total new guy to this but i got a few questions. First which side of the engine is the alternator on? Also on the exhaust manifold side of the engine is that where the air pump is? Does anyone have a good picture of that side of the engine. The car i bought looks like the air pump is missing and i need to know what parts i need to replace it and where the hoses go. Also what is the air pump for? Thanks for the help.

I believe the air pump was incorporated for US emissions regulations and that most people your side of the pond (except in CA) removed it.

Here's diagrams of the air pump and alternator from the Spider manual.

Cool, i was looking at that side of the engine and noticed the 2 pins coming out for the mount. I have been doing a load of research and reading the manuals to see how the car works and where all the parts go. The only other question i have right now is in the picture. Thanks again

The metal pipe above the exhaust manifold is supposed to have a corrugated cardboard type hose on it going to a mechanical thermostaticly controlled flap situated in a T piece on the air filter inlet pipe. It's there to stop the carburettor icing in cold weather. Not sure what the weather is like in PA but you may not need it.

These diagrams may show the locations better.
