Well I'm new to all this really and wanted to know roughly what gives what gains, and where money is best spent.

Performance wise I'm pretty stumped..

- Air Filter?
- Exhaust?
- Suspension?

Don't see the brakes needing doing as the gains are hardly going to make it immpossible to stop!

As for looks, I'd say it needs some side skirts. Whats my options?

Anything else that I've missed (I'm sure theirs lots)!

Welcome to the forum pal, and well done for choosing the much superior mk2 ;)

as im sure you will have found out, the 1.2 8v is pretty gutless so don't expect anything to give it massive increases in performance.

air filters - Best is ford focus induction kit, £30 so its cheap and it sounds really nice. If your in the money go for a GSR but they are pricy and stay away from K&N at all costs!

Exhaust - Some people on here say its best to opt for a £200+ full system such as a powerflow etc. Personally i went for the universal backbox as it looks and sounds good and doesn't cost the earth. Also an expensive exhaust system isn't worth 1-2 bhp in my opinion.

suspension its really down to you in both cost and what ur happy with in comfort! Mine isn't lowered so you'll have to speak to someone who's is

Sideskirts are a must, the abarth ones are best but are pricy, u can get other random body kit ones on ebay like mine (tenner!) painting isn't too hard providing your patient!

alloys? Tinted windows? debadged?

Get some pics of the beast up m8!

cheers

Cheers for some ideas mate.

Funnily enough, I'm sharing this account with my friend who lives next door to me, it's actually his Punto and I'm trying to get him into the mod scene. :p

I'll get him to post up some pictures sometime soon after weve gave her a nice polish!

I myself drive the much further superior 306 2.0 HDi DTurbo!

116Bhp / 197lb-ft. :)

Excellent post.
That is great advice.
I agree, I want to see pics!

Money best spent on performance:

£150 GSR induction
£180-200 supersprint backbox
£200 re-map
£150 eibach sportline/pro springs

Brakes I would change pads to red dot fast roads when standards are worn.

If you'vr got that kind of money lying around go for it!
I know i certainly havn't or I wouldn't be driving a W plate punto lol

He asked where money is best spent.

Focus is an OK alternative, but the universal backbox is not.

Colour code mirrors/handles. Sporting/hgt or abarth skirts are the only ones to go for really, also a sporting or abarth spoiler finishes the back end of nicely.

Most people don't have that much lying around, it's called saving.
