Technical Gearchange Conundrums

had the car for a year now 2003 53 doblo 1.9JTD SX and on 2 occasions after being driven normally for a minimum of 30 mins the gearchange into 3rd and 4th has gone so stiff its impossible to select these gears.
pull over turn off the engine and with clutch depressed really work the gears through it loosens up enough to drive and proceeds to loosen its way back to normal over the next 10 miles or so and is fine until the next time this happens.

any ideas? i did remove the gear gaitior and check the lubrication of the ball seemed ok as was still covered in some wierd kind of lube that looked like pink gubbins

There have been problems on Doblos and Ulysees with the gear linkage.
