Technical gearbox selector problems

Hi I'm looking for any advice regarding problems with my gear change,
I have a ducato 2.0 ltr diesel 5 speed manual box, Bessacar Motorhome.
I,ve fitted new cables and Pivot but the problem is when trying to select 1st or 2nd gear i have to lift the stop/gate lever and move the stick 5 mm towards the reverse position and then both 1st & 2nd are easily available it is also tight at the other end getting into 5th but will go in and stay in,
People have said box, others have said engine/gearbox mounts someone said a part of the cables are missing i'm just getting confused, any info or help would be greatly appreciated or point me in the right direction

Hi here’s what you got to do lift the cover around gearstick look at cables the neutral cable has an adjustable ratchet that needs correcting you can do it without moving plastic around gearstick but advise you to remove it so you can see clearly what to do on neutral cable, the ratchet on cable lift the release looks like a black loop of plastic then push plastic button in under loop the stick will now be loose across neutral to reset position and get correct smooth gear position

Is it a 244 model? There is a procedure to adjust it see attached.
