Gearbox on its way out??

I got in my 1.2sx (51 Plate) yesterday and drove it home and noticed that the gears were quite hard to select and as i drove it today they it worse! Is it the gearbox or the clutch or someting else? Remedy? New bits?

Could be the slave cylinder leaking. Have a look see if there are any obvious leaks. Located directly on top of the gearbox.
Also try a transmission fluid change. Get the cheap options out of the way

Mine has been shocking on the gear change for over a year now, hasn't got any worse. I think it's something to do with the clutch but can't be bothered to get it fixed, lol.

mine was doin that, then it went, it was the clutch slave cylinder, so i took it apart and repaired it, all sorted, nice and smooth now

have a look around under the battery tray for any signs of leaked fluid. if there is its more than likeley the slave cyl gone.

it sounds more like a slave cyl / clutch prob over gearbox to me.

if it is gearbox and you want a hand drop me a line on here as im local and can help you out at considerably less than a garage can

I always pipe up and say this, mine did it for about a year then crunch... bang, gear box gone, written off brava

yes i can, buts thats more to do with the fact ive had to do it too many times on Patch

probably explains why im so cheap in comparison to garages

my m8 has had 7 gear boxs in his 1.2 but he loves the car and wont sell it lol

Mark, i know exactly what your mate is going through, ive had a couple more but cant sell her, instead ill just keep throwing money at her instead

Thanks guys! I'm going to have a look over the weekend! Going to check it all out! Replace the gearbox oil. Doubt its been done since new! Thanks andy for your offer to come help! I'll give these options a go and get back to you if i need more help! Thanks!

I would doubt its the gearbox unless is making any noises.

Could be the clutch hydrolics check the slave cylinder fully opens when the clutch is pressed also bleed the system. If not the fingers on the pressure plate could be worn or broke which means gearbox off and new clutch.

If i was you i wouldn't replace the gearbox oil i would just check the level and top it up if needed.
