Hi everyone, I really need help.
I have a 1993 fiat ducato 1.9td motorhome, We have been renovating her for ages and we were at a stage where we were going to book an MOT and maybe try going away for the weekend, even though she's not 100% finished.
When I when to get her off the drive I couldn't get it into gear, changed the clutch cable, no joy so thought the clutch had gone...when i removed the gearbox, the arm that the clutch cable operates was seized, after cleaning a ton of yuck from the bell housing it's all freed up, but it is obvious that the input shaft oil seal has been leaking so i want to change it...here is my problem........ the input shaft goes though like a tower with no obvious oil seal.... and all my research including phoning a few gearbox places, show that the "tower" should be held in with 2 bolts....mine isn't, it seems to be part of the casing..... and so how do i change the oil seal???? surely you don't have to crack the gearbox just to do the oil seal......
I'll try to add a pic tomorrow.
Many thanks Tom
