Technical  Gearbox gone solid??

Hi - I have bought a kit for the 5 speeder and built it myself. Had a small issue with it and found an expert in the conversion to check it and complete it
They are not more reliable
Wisdom is to get a good four speeder and put higher final drive in....

Thanks for the info, I am currently sinking into depression with this problem. I promised to be out of the garage by Christmas and blagged a few pink tickets to carry on over to the new year, and having got the engine back in I thought I was there.

I haven't yet confessed that the engine may have to come out again. I am somewhat encouraged that I may be able to resolve the problem with the engine in situ.

Although I changed the drive shafts the gearbox was left untouched but I visually examined all the gears and all looked OK. I did notice that I was unable to select any gears which I put down to lack of correct purchase, as all looked in order and all cogs / sprockets revolved nicely.

I am back at work now so evenings are short so will try your suggestions at the weekend before pulling it all out again.

Thanks for all the advice.

Peter

I tried this along with releasing the sprung loaded indent balls for the three selector shafts to no avail.
There are two balls at the opposite end which prevent more than one shaft moving at once which is the likely culprit

Steve et al,

I bit the bullet and pulled the whole thing back out and separated the gearbox.

Once the gearbox was on the bench with the three side loaded detent balls loosened, a bit of jiggery pokery I managed to resolve the issue and select all the gears, well I hope all!

Don’t quite know how but hopefully it won’t happen again.

Fingers crossed and thanks to all for their help and input.(y)

Peter
