Technical Gearbox for 2.8jtd (244): does a 2.3jtd box fit?

Hi all.
My 2003 year 2.8jtd ducato has a gearbox in need of repair. I found a 2006 2.3jtd box for a reasonable price with low mileage and wonder if I can use it. Or is has it a different gear ratio/weaker structure or any other differenses?

1. Check ePer for the different models, if it has the same part number -> no problem.

2. Check elearn, it has a technical documentation section, where you can see the specs side by side for the different models.

Thankyou, however the ePER doesnt seem to cover newer Ducatos than 2002. Or am I missing something?

You are missing something ...

Click Spare Parts -> Fiat commercial -> enter your vehicle identification number (VIN)

Also note ePer come in releases, here on the forum it is 20 and the most current one is somewhat about 33 (?). However release 20 should be sufficient here.

Ok, I got the no from the 2.3 jTD, its ZFA24400007727771
But the ePER didn't accept the no. Strange.

Critical thing is chassis gvw, if its the same weight chassis 10/14q or 18q then they are pretty much the same, might be a variation on the 5th gear. Otherwise you'lll have diferent diff ratio, countershaft and the ratios may not suit.
