Technical Gear stick none self-centralising any permenant fix?

as above, is their a permanent fix for this?

The cars been in the garage, the mechanic has cleaned the pin, change is slightly better, but it still wont self centre.

Im guessing this is now a cable issue maybe?

Will new cables definitely sort this?

What have people found?

i love the car, but dubious about putting up this this as i do alot of miles.

I don't think anyone would say "definitely", but its certainly been a fix for a number of others on the forum. A cheap potential fix would be to repeatedly spray the ends of the cables with WD40 or similar, and sit in the car waggling your gearstick and see if that improves matters.
