Technical Gear stick came off, now stuck as can't reverse! How's it go back? 2.8jtd 2005

So I tried to start my van in error whilst still in gear! Then the gearstick got stuck, even with clutch it wouldn't shift to neutral easily, so applied some force and oops, the whole gear stick came off and spring.

But I can't figure it how it goes back on, doesn't look obvious, and I can't even decide if the odd shaped plastic is normal or its broken, hard to tell from the edge if broken as greasy.

So now I can't reverse until work this out, my shifter is a pull up to go into reverse, so logically something should lock into a lifting piece but can't seem to see how.
Hope someone more mechanical can a) tell me if its actually broken or just come off? b) how I can refit it, and/or temp get my gears working!

Hard to tell from your photos, but I think that plastic piece is just roughly finished where it doesn't show, rather than being broken.

Thanks guy, I looked at those and using exploded view it was simple to refit, thankfully not broken! Think it needs a little glue though as loose now.
