Gear change issue 08 punto

Hi all and merry christmas. I need a bit of help if anyone has had this issue before. I have an 08 grande punto and the gear lever does not spring back into the middle and is rather stiff. If i move it to the left it stays there etc. Its had a recent clutch and gear cables so i wouldnt have thought it would be that. Any help would be great before i just start taking things to bits

Sounds like the pivot at the base of the lever, try pulling the gearlever gaitor up & give it a spray of WD40 down at the base.
