I just got a 1972 127 with only 37K Km for Italy.
My kids got it imported for me from Italy to the usa.
I had one as my first car and it was my favorite,I am 61 years old now.
Best Christmas gift ever.
Looks like the gas neck rubber hose is leaking, also there is gas under the carburetor in the drip pan.
It idles low ,I adjusted the screw on the carburetor closest to the fire wall and it’s a little better but the alternator red light come on very faint until I push the gas a little or pull the choke.
Help will be appreciated,

I love it.

can you post a picture of the leaks?

Great Birthday gift !

looks like a rearly early deluxe spec !

Do you use regular unleaded gas or higher octane.
If it has the original 903cc OHV engine, then regular gas should be fine (91 RON was specified back in the day). This engine had hard valve seats fitted as standard to the alloy head so should be fine to use unleaded gas.

Forgot the back
Have you got the (iirc?) chrome hub caps (chrome wheel hub covers) for your new car?

(Later 127's didn't have the 3 small ears on the wheel (just outboard of the wheel bolts) over which the hub cap was clipped - they used a pressed metal trim disc (painted black) held in place by the wheel bolts.)

I found a couple of pics of the 127 that I had. It was a 1976, stock 3 door hatchback, 903cc. I got the car in very poor condition c. 1990 and did what ended up as a full rebuild. I wasn't trying to restore it, just wanted to put it into a good useable and reliable condition as low cost transport. Colour was Fiat 'Sundance Yellow', but some people, rather unkindly, referred to it as the little 'S**tty Brown' car.
Pictures were taken at one of the beaches close to where I used to live in Dublin, the capital city of Ireland.

Work done included fabricating and welding repair sections to both sills (rocker panels), bottom of both doors, and tailgate (hatch), repair sections/reinforcement to front anti-roll bars mountings, inner track control arm mountings, then a lower half respray. Overhauled engine, gearbox, steering rack, new clutch, hub bearings/ shocks all round,, c.v. joints, brake rotors, pads, drums, shoes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, hoses, handbrake cable, new windscreen, exhaust system, clutch cable, 2 new vent windows with catches, 2 window regulators, battery, tires, tubes, filler neck hose and fuel pipes, 2 headlamps, ignition switch, steering column switch assembly, rebuilt starter motor, alternator and wiper motor, all service items, plus miscellaneous small bits and pieces. As I said, I got the car in very poor condition and one thing just led to another, I wanted it to be reliable and it was for the 7 years I had it plus another few years with the next owner until I lost track of it.
