When i bought my car it also came with a T28 turbo as a spare. does anyone run their gt with one. Wonders wot sort of mods need to be done to get in running properly/safely. if its a load of work it will be up for grabs

I don't have alot of experience with modifying the GT's as i keeping my oem. but here is some stuff lifted from another forum..

PUNTO GT 1.4 MODIFICATIONS

There are varing levels of Tuning for Punto GTs.

Standard – 130 – 136 bhp at the flywheel

For the purposes of this thread they are put into classes:-

Stage one – 165- 170bhp at the flywheel

For this level of tuning you will need:-

Seb0 GT1 - 170hp chip
Seb0 GT2 - 170hp chip
Seb1 GT3 - 160hp chip
Seb2 GT3 - 170hp chip

You will also need a free flowing exhaust and a new boost controller to replace the Peirburg valve that controls the boost as standard at 0.8 bar.

A new controller coupled with the other modifications listed will allow you to raise the boost pressure to 1.2bar and subsequently depending on engine condition should bring you the power in the region of the figures above.

Prices for this level of tuning are £225 - £800 depending on components bought.

Stage two – 195- 210bhp at the flywheel

Seb4.11 GT1 - 190+hp chip - T25, FMIC, FSE, Grale Pump, + above.
Seb4.11 GT2 - 190+hp chip - T25, FMIC, FSE, Grale Pump, + above.
Seb4.11 GT3 - 190+hp chip - T25, FMIC, FSE, Grale Pump, + above.

Coupled with the chip you will need as for stage one – a free flowing exhaust and a replacement boost controller.

Also to gain the extra horsepower you will need A T25 Turbo A Front mounted intercooler, A replacement uprated Fuel Pressure regulator (power boost valve as they can be known), an uprated fuel pump in the form of an lancia integrale one or a fiat coupe 20vt walbro one. The latter being the noiser of the two.

Again engine condition will also play a part in the power levels that you will be seeing from these modifcations and tweaking may be required.

Stage two tuning prices start in the region of £800 for some second hand parts and can stretch to around £3000 for the best parts.

Stage three – 247 at the flywheel

This is based upon a working example of a single car that was on the forum:-

Modifications upon this car were:-
Cosworth Standalone management
Big valve head
Potr Stainless steel manifold
12mm headbolts
Potr “mitsi” T25 Turbo
Potr wire ring head gasket
Along with the other usual modifications Associated with seb4.1

The power rating of this car was never concluded due to an accident involving the car and the parts being split up to multiple buyers. The car was belived to have needed another mapping session before full power was obtained

not really, for the chassis its plenty powerful enough in stock trim in my opinion.

coupled with the fact a stock GT is a very rare beast these days and is worth more money i'm sticking with oem spec. I recently even bought a recirc valve so i can remove the dump valve that was fitted when i got the car. Only mod the car has is a pipercross panel filter. It even has its original exhaust.

I do have a few modified bits though if anyone is interested, PM me if so.

Suppose youve got your Sei for super power :p
Did you ever get rid of that merc?
