I have an FZD 32.28 that was once part of a twin carb set up & has inlets both sides of the float chamber lid. Has the part number 6979 stamped on it. The other one I have has the single inlet and is stamped 6911.

Did a little more research and dug out an original Dellorto brochure I have. It seems that there are top covers with inlet connections on either side as well as both sides.

Because there is no hint of thread showing i believe they are not removable
Eurocarb - the UK Dellorto agent agree that it cannot be removed
Either pressed in or glued i reckon
I bet it snaps off if i try and remove it.
Looking for fuel resistant rubber elbows currently
Does anyone have the O/D of the tube on 32/28 by chance?

Hi Andrew,

I have a spare carby cover and the unused fuel inlet is threaded - M7X0.75 by measurement. OD of the brass inlet on this cover is 7mm.

I also tried to remove the brass inlet from the other side with no luck. Gentle heating, lubrication and twisting did nothing. It is really no surprise that it is so tight - probably not good to have it leaking or coming loose. Eurocarb are right - it's a permanent fixture.

Why not have a piece of right-angle, heavy gauge brass tubing silver soldered onto (and over) the inlet pipe to the carb, at the angle that is required to give you the clearance that you require.

Before I return the Dellorto brochure to the file I thought that this picture of the Abarth Fiat 595 SS may be of interest

It's not much use to you to know but it looks like your engine lid has become less convex with welding in those louvres (nice job by the way). So that's why you have that clearance issue.
Do you plan or could you fit those bonnet props to avoid the issue altogether.

Ooooh no!
I'm not a fan of the open lid look....I'd rather engineer the problem away
You are correct that the profile of the 600 lid is probably different to the 500
Something i hadn't considered.
The finish is superb on my custom lid and along with an oil cooler and ceramic coated exhaust hope to keep the heat at bay....if you excuse the pun...

Andrew, could you adapt an oil line bend as used in fitting oil coolers as there are several different types of bend. I believe there are also fittings that screw directly into Webber carbs.

The problem i have is that the fuel supply tube is not removable - so i will see if a compression fitting will work.
If not - carb off to the fabricator for a modification.
Won't be the first time......or the last. .....
It has almost no standard kit.....
