You can certainly use a fuse smaller than 15A for the camera. 5A or 7.5A is more than enough. I used an adapter that keeps the original fuse and adds one for the device.
I bought this https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007620188635.html which seems to replace the current fuse with the supplied one. There is no information but being blue I am assuming 15A. I regret not paying better attention as I assumed this would come with tap adapters but I assume if I only replace 15A fuses or use an unused spot then I should be fine
The only concern I see with this adapter that is in your Hardware Kit is that if you use the fuse used in the F94, it may not protect the HardwareKit, since it consumes very little and may not burn if there is a failure. For this reason, I used to connect my Hardware Kit to a TAP Adapter, because I keep the 15A for the 12V outlet line and leave 5A for the HardwareKit, so if it has any failure or overload, it burns before the 12V outlet line.
Yes it does seem like a flawed design to me. I think I'll try it anyway. I think my fuses look the same as yours, all filled on the left and 2 spare on the right. Will use bottom left for the always on and the spare on the right for the att. Thanks for your help.
Where did you connect the ground for yours?
Near the fuse box there is a ground screw.
Unfortunately that cable I ordered didn't work. I'll send it back but I'm thinking it's probably better to just get the slightly more expensive obd cable
I'm afraid to use the OBD port to constantly power an external product. An overload could damage some system in the car and not just a blown fuse.
Oh I didn't think of that. I think I'll order another fuse one then but this time with the split design. thanks
