Hello

Just wanted to hear some comments from you people that have a custom cat back system on your engines...

- Firstly, does the system includes any boxes
between cat and back box? if so then how many?
- Second, what is the diameter of the piping?
- Third...What kind of gains have u noted, if u have dyno tests results even better :)

Hmmm

Come on people I know you have cat back systems...put your comments!!! :)

Re: Re: Full Cat-Back Systems

I've got a cat back Powerflow on my car and it has a middle and back box. If I didn't have the middle box then I'd be totally deaf by now!!! As for diameter don't ask me any more technical questions as I'm a girlie!!! LOL!

Re: Re: Re: Full Cat-Back Systems

Haha :)
Ok good to know since I wanted to remove the middle box(es)...but have u noticed any difference after having it fitted either in power or response or.... other than noise :)

Re: Re: Re: Re: Full Cat-Back Systems

I think my cat-back system uses the same diameter piping as the original exhaust which is 2.5" on the HGT.
Like Nikki i've got a middle and back box.
I asked for a 'quiet' system but i think it's really loud!
I don't think there were any great gains in power. It certainly seems to pull stronger from 4,000rpm to the redline though.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Full Cat-Back Systems

Yes I was told the gains would show on high RPMs especially on my tuned 1.8 ... But as far as I know the piping in the HGT is not 2.5" thats quite big diameter!!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Full Cat-Back Systems

How many times have I told you Yogis, bigger pipes won't get you more power, they will LOOSE you power. :)

The pipe size determines the rev range, the silencers determine power.

Nice to be back.

I have a custom built stainless steel exhaust from the cat, back. It is the same bore as as the original, but both middle and rear boxes are marginally larger.

Ironically, a Timax replacement was approx £170 with a years guarantee, the stainless kit was £235 with a lifetime guarantee.

£65 difference doesn't sound bad.

Hey Tom

I know bigger pipes will lose me power
I am about to get a full system but not any bigger
I was just mentioning that i doubt the HGT has a 2.5" exhaust when that in my 1.8 is only 1.75" but im not sure....

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Full Cat-Back Systems

I could be wrong?
I measured the old exhaust that came off mine when the custom one was fitted. Maybe it was 2"
