we're talking about feeding one fuel rail though, and it is effectively identical to what is going to be going on inside the tank on an MPI. if you were going to add another regulator for a different fuel source then surely just a non-return valve would clear up any pressure anomalies
the only different system i can think of is where the pump is fed a pwm signal and varies its output and pressure by having it's power input adjusted.
