I needed to replace the fuel inlet hose to my fiat so removed the bolt which the end of the line fixes on to (7,9,10 on diagram). I am now trying to refit it and the screw (8) is not reaching the thread because of something blocking the way! really confusing.. Ive attached a pic of the inlet. Can someone help please??

I dont think i mixed up the washers but will try a different configuration and see if it works.. and deffo didnt turn the engine, but I had been priming the fuel line using the pump next to the filter housing.. dont think that would have done anything though?

Just pumping fuel through shouldn't have as far as I know.
Incidentally for future reference I keep all sealing washers in exactly the position they came off, as even if just turned over they can leak form being in a different position. Obviously if replaced with new then not an issue.

Cheers ... still no closer to getthign this thing to fit! I used a long bolt with the same diameter thread and it took well, so im happy the threads are intact.. just seems to be that metal barrier stopping the fuel inlet bolt getting to the thread.. really stuck and cant drive my van lol

Tricky, have you tried with a clean tool , to press the object down. Don't let any dirt in.
Apart from that with timing marked and at your own risk, maybe try easing the engine pulley a little in both directions whilst applying gentle pressure to see if it drops back a little.
Note , entirely at your own risk.;););)
