Technical Fuel/EGR problem?

Hi i'm new here just looking for some help with my van it's a Fiat Ducato 2000 reg with the 1.9d engine, I've suddenly got an intermittent problem which seems to be linked to the fuel when driving along usually in low gears but can happen in all gears it starts to judder and splutter as if it's misfiring and you don't get much response from the throttle but sometimes it can go away for a while, im worried because i'm going to struggle to find a garage tomorrow morning and desperatley need the van for work monday morning, anyone have any idea what it could be? oh and also how do you clean the EGR valve as I have read other posts and think it could be linked to that any help would be much appreciated and thanks for taking time to read this, Sam
