General Fuel Consumption

I have the new 3.0 X250 on a motorhome. It's now over 9000 miles but no matter how I drive it I'm only getting 16-17 mpg. The old 2.8 JTD in my previous identical model used to give 22-23 mpg unless being thrashed for a ferry when it fell to 17 or so. Spoken to Fiat technical at the NEC show who say that's way to low, but the local dealers say there's nothing they can change or adjust and that everything is OK.. Anybody any ideas what I can do next?

A have about the same consumption whit my camper 14.8/100 km. The computer in the camper shows a consumption of 10.8/100 km. This is of by 25 % When I ask Fiat, thy replay that the computer is never correct and thy cant help me. Any suggestions?

Our motorhome which weighs 4000kg on the road has a 3lt motor and automated manual transmition with 5000km on the clock is giving us better that 8.4km/lt (12lt/100km) and the trip computer shows a number that is close to that.

The computer just can give you a average consumption, not the exact value.
