Fuel consumption problem??

Hi Guys, still trying to find my way round this site, got a r reg brava, and i filled it up last sunday 14/2, the needle didnt go right up to full it stopped just before, i have since done just over 100 miles and this morning the needle dropped to near enough empty and the fuel light came on, but when i started it up again and drove the needle went up and the light went off, i filled it up again today and it took £30 to fill it up, again the needle didnt go to the full icon it sat just before it, when starting it the needle shoots up very very fast?

any help would be greatly appreciated =P
