Fuel comsumption question!

Hi all!

I have a -97 1.4sx Bravo. Ive had it over a month now, and getting really worried with the fuel consumption.
Its around 10litres per 100km (62miles). Still most of my driving is on the motorway.

Any idea why it consumes so much? I havent found anything special in the engine, or leaks like that.

At the dutch bravo forum we've had a discussion about 1.4 consumption and most of Dutch 1.4 drivers do 10 liters in 100km. It aint an economical machine!

ECU

this seems to be the best solution to most things like this, try resetting the ECU - disconnect your battery overnight, reconnect it in the morning and drive as normal the next day, see if this improves it.

I thought my 1.8 was bad.

10 litres lasting 100 km works out to be approx 28mpg, the same as my 1.8. The 1.4 is known to be a crap engine, probably the worst of the range. Maybe you should have bought a 1.2 or 1.6
