One of my brake dirt shields was well beyond its useful life and past repair. As we know these aren't available. After some unsatisfactory efforts fabricating one from sheet steel, I hit upon the idea of modifying a cheap steel frying pan.

So a bit of searching on ebay for a 28cm frying and a few hours of fabrication (It would have been quicker had I not bothered to try and recreate the recess which I don't think makes much difference) and hey presto! A new brake shield. Pretty pleased and it's teflon so the dirt will slide off!!

I'm impressed, always good to see a plan come together, but can I ask, the back plates usually curve towards the brake disc?
Is that that the case? I have wondered about that. I got the car and they faced that way, curve away from disc. I assumed that was the way they were meant to...

Googling other examples they definitely curve away. It is weird though, they look to have been designed to have space to curve over the disc. I wonder what Fiat's logic was?
