Thanks man, glad u like the couler.... check bk tomorrow for some more pics as I'm putting it bk together :/ I've got enough paint to do a original bonnet but it'd need some kind of vent due to the ecu being on top of inlet on mk2 punto 16v engine I used ? I'm not 100% on vent myself tbh but I do like the eye brows tell me what you think of it when it's finished please. I'd love some more opinions

wont need the vent mate, the ecu can be moved by extending only a few wires. also the mk2 ecu you sound like you have that sits on the throttle isnt directly compatable with the cinq wiring. will also have a FlyByWire throttle that also wont work.

punto mk1 ecu and a adapter harness needs to be fashioned. then place in original ecu location

I think from memory, he has carried all that over. Punto dials, fly by wire etc etc

I personally think it's a hell of a lot of effort to make something that isn't going to be better than the "standard way" 16v conversion, BUT i do applaud the time and effort to do it, after all, if all things were always done the same we'd never find out new or perhaps better ways of doing stuff at all!

Im thinking of doing a respray on my car soon , can i ask how many liters of paint you used roughly for your main colour ,

i have been looking at www.specialistpaints.com and house of kolor its crazy expensive for some of the paint they stock so kinda confusing too how much it will cost me for the paint

Also what type of primer did you use ???

Thanks :)

Well about 3.75 ltr will do it but we hit it with 2 heavy top coats so probably used just under 5 ltr and it's 2pk so no lacquer needed. 5 ltr of Ford frozen white new is about £53 Inc vat on my trade account but I just used what he had lying around. this project so far has actually made me money :) due to bits I've sold off my £200 doner car and my old engine. Just shows ya that you don't need to spend big $$ if you put in the hour's, I swapped my paint job for a 1 day rendering job on the painters house lol

We used high build primer but only primed where we had done small repairs. The car can simply be red scotched off, De greased, tack raged off and then hit with the paint we used

There was no rot but lots of small stone chips on the bottom of the doors wings and rear quarters and scuffs and chips on front bumper. Also a few deep scratch here and there that needed sorting out, it was badly dented on drivers side and pass wing and loads of little dents here and there but the dent man got 99% of them out and did an absolute amazing job before we started any prep.

Like that colour :D it really suits the cinq IMO (y)

Personally not that keen on the vent (though i don't think it's that bad either), but each to their own, also, i prefer the little fake grille under the bonnet in between the headlights to be black as it was standard as well as the handles etc, but other than those tiny details, tis very nice :)

Well actually you gave me more of a complaint sandwich....lol a positive followed by a negative followed by a positive etc haha it's nice to have other people's opinions though good or bad so thanks

No no, the "negatives" weren't really meant as so, just things that i personally marginally prefer on cinqs in general!, Not saying that it ruins the car or anything drastic at all, i like it as it is :), just that if i was doing it, i'd probably not have colour coded those bits, doesn't mean my general preference is better, maybe it wouldn't work on that colour, it's hard to tell, it's very colour dependent!

Right I see, well I'm actually not that keen on bonnet but it's growing on me now. I'm getting a original bonnet painted on Saturday to put in storage so I can swap em if I get sick of the modified one. I've tried to go for a retro 90s hatch look with the bonnet and tint

Thanks man
I'm waiting for some blue tinted side repeaters to arrive. That's actually painted masking tape still in the bulb hole lol classy ay
The X 19 alloys cost me £30 :) and took me 4 days to re-furbish lol .... they need doing again actually (curb jumped out at me lol twice ) so I've just refurbished the sporting alloys that came on car in a black base with a light blow over in a Honda graphite colour and a good heavy lacquer, they'll be dry by tomorrow and I'll put them on while I repair the x19 alloys. I'll post a pic of em on car tomorrow

Yes.. looks neat and the wheels are nice. They looks like they could use some 5mm spacers though. Wheels like that need to "stick out" slightly.. ;)

I'd agree with having black handles, side repeaters and front grille insert. And stick a blue badge on it..

If it was me, I'd have put a single NACA vent facing backwards to draw air out, rather than ram it in... but your vent works/goes well with the "angry" eyebrows.. so it works for me. :)

Nice colour too... just you have to keep it clean now.. :D
