Earlier today I heard a rumour (and I stress the word rumour on account of the fact lots of beer was involved) that Les Berry has had enough and they are shutting up shop. The premises are being taken over by Gordons Honda.....has anyone else heard anything????...BBS????

I've not heard any rumours but the garage has been "undergoing renovation" for some time now. I've been down today to drop my car off with them to find that their normally busy showroom with tons of staff has been reduced to a pokey little corner for servicing with only one bloke there who had no idea what he was doing!

I have to say I'm not surprised by this. I'm on the verge of replacing my Fiat and I won't be buying another Fiat, nor will I be buying from Foxfield. I've had years of having to go down and pay £38 just to have lights turned off on my dashboard. Basic services that should cost £99 always end up costing more and my last MOT cost me £350+ because I had to pay for things to be replaced that really shouldn't have needed replacing on a car so young. New cars these days shouldn't need constant repairs and checks on electrical faults/erroneous lights etc so they won't be getting any more business out of me.

The plot thickens. I have received a letter from Lythgoe Fiat in Bolton "introducing" themselves to me and containing all the usual sales blurb. I wonder why, and, more importantly where they got my name and address from???? :D I might ring this Nicky Large up next week and ask some questions.

Foxfield Garage LTD has been removed from the FIAT UK dealer index, so they are definately no longer dealing with Fiat.

Update: after a quick google search, it looks like the Foxfield site was sold to HONDA UK back in March and will become Gordons Honda...click here for more info

Feel better after that?

As a footnote.....I drove past the place this afternoon, just as the 20 ft Fiat sign was being hi-abbed onto a flatback.....its game over for sure.

Been past this morning and it looks like its finally all over for Foxfield. Gordons Honda have finaly moved in and the carpark is full of accords and civics and all the Foxfield and Fiat signs have gone. Foxfields part of the showroom is empty of cars and full of cardboard boxes and stacked furniture and there is just a few used GPs and 500s in the corner of the yard.
Looking back I have bought 5 cars from them in the past. An `88 216S (by appointment to Mrs Bucket) a `92 414S, and the roll out 214SEi in Nightfire red (still one of my all time fave` cars). This was all before they moved to the new site and had the local Rover Franchise. Also a used Orion 1.6LX and finaly the GP.
I had my ups and downs over the years with Les and his way of doing things particularly when he moved over to Fiat but its a real shame things have ended up this way for him and the business and of course his staff, some of whom had been with him for decades.
