While fitting USB charger in place of cigar lighter socket, I have discovered a key and the sensor that is usually mounted around ignition switch/steering lock taped together behind the fascia. (photo attached)
While I understand the technical reason for this mod', and probably the financial reason, I would like to reinstate the correct system.
This is on an aging Doblo (2004 1.9JTD high-roof) with wheelchair access.
What do you recommend or know !
Many thanks, G in France

Remove taped on key , attach your other key , see if you can start car .
If no start then you only have one key programmed to imobiliser.

Post result for further advice

You need a friendly auto locksmith, they can clone a key from the
one taped to the aerial, if you have a remote that opens the car
but wont start it they can supply a chip that you could fit in the remote
and so get that working, if you don't have a remote that works a new
one can be quite expensive and not all locksmiths will tackle it.

Thanks jackwhoo and RalphM,
I have two normal keys that work in ignition, door locks, and operate central locking from driver's door.
I'll undo the fascia and conduct tests as soon as the rain stops! Obviously there to stop immobiliser from preventing starting, but regarding remote locking.....
Will respond tomorrow - thanks

Aerial refitted to ignition/steering lock.
Key that was attached to it will start motor.
One of other two keys will start motor.
Remaining key for door locks only.
There doesn't appear to be remote locking from key fob - can't see a receiver.
All seems OK, but can I have one of the two chipped keys duplicated? If so, is it expensive?
PS having trouble locating replacement glass for rear left (n/s) barn door...
Many thanks

It appears you have 2 keys that will start car and one just for locks.

I don't know which immo system is used on your year doblo . I do know that some fiat immo systems keys cannot be cloned and require a fiat dealer to provide a genuine fiat key , cut it and program it to your car at HUGE expense.

Looking at your photo it appears Thompson's managed to clone a key so likely not so difficult.

Do you really need 3 programmed keys?
How many keys do you intend to loose? :)
If you do loose a programmed key you could just go back to how it was with your remaining programmes key taped to aerial ring and use a dumb key.. maybe having a second dumb key cut.

A auto locksmith or Timmons should be able to clone a key round here they want
about £50 - £70 but it varies so you need to ask locally.
Many thanks, I now realise that I'm OK with the keys I have for the moment - I think it was just the shock of the key/aerial behind the fascia without being told by previous owner. However, I will ask auto locksmiths if they can clone it if necessary. Cheers
