There's not really a trick..one thing I suppose is use manual with clutch can be worth a second a lap in slow cars. Second I know my way around tuning a car and have decent feel for them so can fix handling issues as necessary. There's no faster car than one you've built for you that suits your style. I like pointy nose with a hint of drift but in the hands of a beginner maybe a bit too slidey to get a good time. Oh and once you've got yourself up to speed and the tyres warm switch your ghost off, I find it distracts me because I race it not the track, only read out I have is a split time everything else off, less pressure and distraction.

It's the last 0.5 of a second that is the hardest especially when you feel like you've hit every corner at full belt.
