I am reading Steinbeck's "Cannery Row" I found in the attic of an abandoned weekend chalet right now.
The translation is quite outdated (early 60s).
The text suggests that the Tin Lizzy had some sort of emergency brake which was applied through gearbox. I tried to google the gearbox in question, but I was unable to find any useful information. I was also unable to download the original English text.
Can someone suggest a site with the description of the gearbox?
