I have a 1,6 SX Bravo.(Mk1). I 've been looking for an induction kit and found a company called Ramair who manufactures induction kits and their site claims that the (SR-100) product is for the bravo. Have you ever come across their induction kit? Any comments ?

their site is www.ramair-filters.com

best regards

LOL! RamAir and myself have a history ;)

Basically the SR-100 was designed for the 1.8, the diagram shows a 1.8 and they assumed (their words!) that the 1.6 was the same.

Anyway, it does not fit. They refunded me my money. I'm amazed they still list it as fitting the 1.6.

Thats placed where it would be if you followed their instructions.

£70 from memory but I'd go elsewhere, the quality was not good and the foam was very thin compared to my pipercross.

what do u recomend then, not k&n
what r green filters like

while we are on the subject i was going to do an "fao tom" post in the next few days but i may as well hijack this one, lol

tom i have a mate of a mate of a mate who works in a machine worksop that make high pressure valves and pipes (some stuff guaranteed for 2000years etc) and he does precision engineering stuff dunno what exactly but he does loads of stuff like this and a pipe is something he can do blindfolded with one hand etc etc and he is going to make me a pipe for my induction kit out of stainless steel for my 1.4

now he will be useing stainless steel which won't be bling bling, lol

and i know you used a dremmell and about 4hours worth of work went into makeing yours bling, but what was the exact process involved ?

never needed instructions on how to polish my pipe before cough

but a step by step guide would be nice :p

What you could do is buy any induction Kit, universal one, RamAir or whatever takes your fancy, and use the piece shown in Tom's Pic (Taken from the air feed from the grill) to stick in the end of the induction pipe to extend it over the lip where you need it to go.
You could get one from a Bravo in a breakers if you'd rather not take it from your own car's air feed. (I used a peice of pipe from some random car, that just happened to fit).

This, I recon is the easiest and way to fit an induction kit to a 1.6, though there are far, far sexier ways (like Tom's custom chrome induction job!)

BenB, its stainless, not chrome :)

Barney, try about 8 hours using an angle grinder with a series of 3M surface conditioning pads and then a bench grinder with a polishing mop and 3 grades of cutting and polishing compound ;)

"8 hours using an angle grinder with a series of 3M surface conditioning pads and then a bench grinder with a polishing mop and 3 grades of cutting and polishing compound"

i am willing to put in the hours work and the elbow grease, i have an angle grinder and a bench grinder

so all i want ot know really is what disk did you use on the angle grinder ? is there a specific polishing disk ?

3m surface conditioning pads ? is this what they are called ? and what is a polishing mop i have never heard of this before.

and as for the cutting and polishing compound what is that ?? and where can i get it ?

so i am assumeing you angle grinded the pipe to get a good surface, used the surface conditioning pads to smooth it out and then used the polishing mop to put a shine on it and then the polishing compound to give it a bit of bling bling ??

Pretty much. Any good industrial supplies company should be able to sort you out with the stuff required. Cromwell Tools have branches all over the place.

80 grit flap wheel to get all the rough lumps out
medium surface cond pad on the angle grinder
fine surface cond pad
ultra fine surface cond pad

coarse then medium cutting compound on a stitched mop
then finally a high finish fine compound on an unstitched mop.
