General Fog Light Help

I got givin some foglights by a friend who wrote his car off before putting them on. Basically im not 100% how to wire them in and where to wire them into. looking for any help really.

Have you checked under the bonnet for a capped-off wiring loom? Nowadays, it is cheaper to put a single wiring loom into all models rather than several different wiring looms tailored to each model, so a lot of the wiring should be there, even if the options were not included.

Well i have a Mia so im not to hopeful and also i dont have the button on the centre console...
However il have a look

Ironically, your fog lights will be utterly useless in the fog. LED radiation is usually weighted to the blue end of the spectrum, yet red light penetrates fog much better, which is why incandescent bulbs are usually used for this purpose. As for reasons of styling it should look good.

I was hopin to have them like a car on another forum where the lights shine through the vents on either side of the bumper. So as i dont have a switch for front foglights how can i wire them in ?? Thanks for the help so far

No problem. Your best bet it to go to a vehicle breakers and pull a spare switch out of the dashboard. Hopefully, the wires you require will already be installed behind the blanked-out buttons on your dash. Trickier if the wires are not there, but not impossible. You may have to put an extra fuse in one of the blanks in the fuse box.

Ok well it definatly doesnt as iv had it out before when iv removed my Centre console.
Can you get the hazard light part with front fog lights but not electric window buttons as i have bad boy winders??
And does it make any difference there 12v??

In that case, get another fog light switch from a broken mk2 and fit this into this position. You will need to run a wire from +12v, through a fuse, through the switch and then run two wires from the switch to the lights (ensuring polarity). Connect the negative terminal of the lights (0v) to and part of the body or chassis with exposed metal. Wiring diagrams in the Haynes manual should help to find good positions to put these wires. Unfortunately, I only have a mk1 manual.

You could use that if you like, but you will still need to do some wire running. To be honest, 55w is overkill for LED lights, but will work and affords the opportunity to put in high-powered bulbs later on if you like. My described method would put too much strain on the switch for high-powered bulbs.
