Hi all,

I am new here and have a fiat ducato 2.5l diesel based hymer motorhome.
I am currently driving through Spain and have noticed a leak and am trying to work out how urgent it is to get it seen to.

It's a light fluid. Amber in colour and it's dripping from the front bumper coming from somewhere near the front of the engine bay but I can't see where exactly.

I think it's only leaking whilst we are driving.
I checked the dip stick and the engine oil level seems fine

Any suggestions as to what it mighkt be and if it needs urgent attention.

Thanks
Adam

Here is a photo. It seems to be coming from the right hand side of the engine bay.

What does it smell like did you check coolant, brake fluid and power steering fluid ( if you have any) level too?

Hi,
So I managed to track the leak down and it's the power steering fluid.
When the engine is running and I turn the wheel the fluid squirts out of a thick black pipe at the point it is crimped into a metal junction. I think the pipe is connected to the outlet of the pump. Either the seal has gone or there is a small hole in the pipe.

I guess i need to get it to a garage but don't have any idea how much it will cost to get fixed.

Any Ideas as to whether this is a big job or an easy fix?

Thanks
Adam

Do you mean its leaking at the banjo bolts?

May just need tightening or new copper washers if its the banjo bolts.

If its leaking near the jubilee clips (4) in the diagram then it may be the clip has failed or just worked loose or the metal pipe is perforated (it often perforates here as water gets trapped between the hose and the pipe). If its perforated then if your lucky and theres some slack in the hoses you may be able to loosen the jubilee clip and slide the rubber hose further on to cover the perforation then retighten jubilee clip - it could go on for another few years with this simple repair.

Thanks, that is really helpful.
It's leaking where pipe 10 meets pipe 1 ( I think) but part 4 isn't a standard jubilee clip that you can loosen and tighten with a screw driver. It's more like a metal coller that has been crimped on to the rubber.
The fluid is shooting out in two jets. It seems like pin holes in the rubber hose.
I will try and take a photo a bit later.
Thanks so much for your help.
Adam

So it looks like a section of the pipe has been replaced by a previous owner and it's now leaking at the lower metal join.left hand rubber hose

Best bet is find a place that does hydraulic hoses for diggers etc, they will have the fittings to make up a new one,
