thanks people.

with regards to the mot - law is as follows.

if u stand one metre away from ur rear bumper and look dowmn the side of ur car, if u can see ur frnt indicators then u dont need side repeaters.

in terms of price to get veryting done, too smooth the shole car off (apart from the bootlid) supply all paint n materials and including labour was £600.

the pics dont do the colour justice!

Amit,

Very nice. Out of interest can you give us contact numbers for the people who done this.

I am hoping, really hoping to get smoothed for half the price. I've got to sweet talk a mate into doing one weekend, plus get the dosh as well

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: flipped and smoothed?

I'm impressed with the roof gutterings amit, this is a mod I'm considering too. Did the body shop weld them? or did they just fill them with Fiberglas and filler?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: flipped and smoothed?

So was it welded or filled?

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: flipped and smoothed?

so were they welded or filled?

I'd like to know that too, amit, it seems to be the top question of the day.. :)

Poll: were the roof guts filled or welded?

Re: Re: flipped and smoothed?

I'd say filled, welding like that would leave ripples in the roof.

Re: Re: Re: flipped and smoothed?

Yeah I reckon you're right Tom. They will have filled them as welding them would cost alot. The thing is its a large gap to fill and there is flex in the roof. So if they arent welded properly and just filled it will crack

Re: Re: Re: Re: flipped and smoothed?

You could probably TIG weld it but it would take HOURS per seam

re

i saw someone who'd done thi son a corsa once and he told me he just filled over the top of the plastic strips! i thought this would crack in seconds but looked ok, he didnt say how long ago he had done it mind, andi've never seen him since as it was just at a cruise in bournemouth!

sounded a dodgy way to do it to me mind!

Re: re

The best way would be to strip it back to good metal and hot lead it like they used to do in the good old days.

Filler never sticks for long.

The other option would be to fibreglass it.

Re: Re: re

the heat caused from welding that would certainly ripple the roof and take hours, so filled, But what is good to use for filling them? Thinking of trying it on my mates shitty fiesta lol

Re: Re: re

That would def be the best way to do it Tom. Thats how Rob (Jessop auto bodies) suggested it should be done with mine. Both fibreglass and filler will crack with the flext that is in the roof
