Blimey, that is exactly what my sei sporting does - the feeling it is backing off everso slightly if you keep ther revs steady anywhere between 2 and 3 thou, and intermittently - and fiat don't know how to fix it.
They've had it in a few times, all work under warranty of course, but I'm starting to lose patience.
I've tried the Bosch super 4s to no avail - you sound like you know what to do next - help!

All SPI Cinqs and Seis have a slight hesitation around the 3000 rev mark, it's a peculiarity of the map on the engine management system. Not sure about the later MPI ones though.
A faulty MAP sensor or lambda sensor can cause this to become more obvious, and won't necessarily show up on a diagnostic test.
Superchipping removed all traces of the hesitation on mine
, and a decent induction kit can help if that's the path you wish to take.
