Hi

My motorhome is a 2004 Peugeot Boxer StarQuest 2.2 and has developed an annoying flashing red light on startup and continues until turning off the ignition.
It has done this for some time now without any apparent effect to performance of the vehicle.
I tried to find out online what the symbol meant and apparently it means that the auto gearbox is overheating, now given the fact that my gearbox is MANUAL I'm at a loss as where to start looking for the fault. My local garage could not find anything on their diagnostic system. It has recently passed it's MOT and all lights etc seem to be in order.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Obviously a short from the lamp I would say. If you are sure it is for the autobox you do not have, take the bulb out of the panel. However, try to find out first if some other sensor has not been plugged into its circuit in error, which is now trying to alert you to something meaningful.

It's not an unknown issue. A few hints on this link here, though unfortunately no definitive solution:

I had a memory of a previous mention of this problem. @HughJampton has provided the answer as to where I had seen it posted. I am sure that Hugh will agree that statemants made by "euroserv" are well worth taking notice of. However may I advise disconnecting the battery negative before investigating under the engine bay fuseboard or panel.
However I think ( I have not proved) that it is the "engine front coupling" D004A that is located under the fuseboard, and the alarm from the autobox does not pass through D004A.

There are two connections between the autobox, and the instrument panel, but one is obviously a road speed signal, which can be ignored, at least for the moment. The alarm signal connects to the instrument panel via conector "C" pin 6 (C6). The ignition switch controlled 12V supply to the instrument panel is routed via D12, so it should be possible with the instrument panel unbolted, to unplug connector C, turn on the ignition, and see whether the rogue alarm is still present. This will prove whether the problem lies in the panel, or in the wiring. I am attaching some relevant? Fiat eLearn files, and here is a link to an online copy of eLearn, and on which you can scroll down for connector wiring info. (Click on E050 in LH column.)

For instructions regarding unbolting the instrument panel, see thread linked to by Hugh in post #3 above.
