Flashing engine management light

I'm always reading on here but it seems Im only posting when things go wrong! Had to turn back on the way to work this morning the car was running rough and then the engine management light was flashing. Now when I've had problems previously the light has come on and stayed on. This time it is flashing if I get over 2k revs and on idle sounds like it's knocking as well as the exhaust making a regular noise. Any ideas before gold ol RAC come out?

It's a 1.2 mk2, booked in for a service on Friday as 13k since last serviced!

Sounds like its the plugs or something with the ignition, best way would be to get a diag done.

Flashing EM Light

I had this a couple of weeks ago on my 1.2. The fiat gaeage said that its a blip in the system and can also do it when the engine is cold

RAC diag just showed "Random Misfire" How very useful!! Had to tow it to my garage, think it may be the coil pack but the number 2 cylinder that is misfiring is sparking so a bit of a mystery. Off to get the train in to work now, fantastic.

Random misfire, change the leads and plugs first, then test it first.

Cheers everyone,

RAC gut checked the plugs, apparently they are all sparking, swapped them over, same problem on same cylinder which confused him. Hopefully my friendly neighborhood garage will be able to fix it nice and cheaply?!!

"blip in the system" ?

is this a later 1.2 with an OBD system (orange engine light with engine symbol instead of red injector light) ?. if so, this means ECU has detected a serious misfire (which will destroy the cat if not fixed)

i had that problem they found out that is was my CAT. i replaced the CAT that was making the noise and then its been ok
